Anxiety is not an emotion. It's a natural and important physiological response to warn us of danger or a perceived threat. Sometimes that threat is obvious and sometimes the anxious feelings seem to come from nowhere. However, due to life experience and past trauma, our anxiety response can become problematic and sometimes debilitating.
I have worked with dozens of clients who have benefitted from psychotherapy to help them deal with anxiety. You could too.
Therapy for Anxiety can help you to identify the cause of your feelings but also to help you to find some strategies that may help to reduce the intensity of the anxiety and help you to feel more in control.
Anxiety cannot be solved by talking alone, so using relaxation techniques, mindfulness and guided imagery as well will allow you to experience true relaxation and teach your body how that feels and how to access those feelings. We might work with deeper, unconscious belief systems or negative thought patterns that may be creating feelings of fear and anxiety. I have found this to often be the case with regards to the cause of anxiety is the thoughts that we are thinking and our internal dialogue and beliefs.
It may be that there are areas of your life that need to change to reduce the anxiety, or if it is related to past events then exploring this and working with the fight/flight/freeze response may work for you.
I can offer therapy to find solutions to your feelings of anxiety. It is possible to feel less anxious. Though curing anxiety is not a goal as it is necessary for us to have the ability to know when things aren't right so we can do something about it.
I have experience of many evidence-based therapy techniques focused on helping you to find solutions to reduce anxiety and create positive outcomes. The goal is to enable you to live a richer, more fulfilled life. Research shows that the most important agent of change in therapy is not the modality that is used, eg; hypnotherapy, CBT. ACT, Mindfulness, but the relationship between you and me, which is known as the working alliance and is the foundation of the therapeutic process. This doesn't happen instantly as in any relationship, and can take a few sessions to build the rapport that encourages a successful outcome.
